Merkel K1 Jagd ?

From rifleshootermag.com:

"Switching back and forth between the 7mm Remington Magnum and .30-06 barrels, the rifle produced decent groups between 3/4 inch and 1 1/2 inches with each barrel, group size varying with the loads. On the bench, the single-set trigger made the rifle extremely easy to shoot. With just one scope, it was necessary to switch the scope from barrel to barrel. The zero was not the same (why should it be?), but with the same barrel the mount was absolutely repeatable. Whether you’re looking for a top-quality interchangeable-barrel rifle or just a top-quality rifle, Merkel’s KR-1 fits the bill. I hope it achieves the popularity it deserves."

That's, what counts. Personal taste is nice to have, but not worth a discussion...

I can accept that not everybody likes it - estethics is a very personal matter - but to say it is a bad rifle not even worth 300 euros is perhaps a bit harsh?

Harsh and somewhat rude. I am not sure that any of them has personal experience. It sounds a little bit like brochure knowledge.
But whatever. When will you get the gun? And what optics will you mount?

No, it's not. 500 € might be adequate at the very most. Aesthetics is one issue (and of course the KR-1 cannot compare in this field to such elegant and fine arms as the Mod. 97 Schultz & Larsen, or - yes - the slightly more pedestrian Kongsberg); but mechanical over-design, usage problems (see the earlier misfire incidents discussed on the 'Net) and downright sillyness are the other issues, and these two speak against the gun. Handling the gun practically - as I of course did - is a near nightmare and leaves you with your head shaking like a metronome, in bewilderment. That a very BADLY DESIGNED gun can still shoot very accurately on the range, is of course no surprise, and has nothing at all to do with the mentioned issues.

Here in this forum, we have had various very critical threads on this gun, over the years.

Similarly this very instructive and substantial older thread:
viewtopic.php?f=39&t=19990&start=45

(And another case of wanton and reckless German engineering playgrounds for play's sake is the Krieghoff Semprio, but that's another field...).

Probably Carcano never owned one nor did he ever shoot one.If there are any farts then they are in his brains. There is no reason to belittle the engineering work of Merkel as he did.His comments are absolutely insulting. What the is the Blaser R8 then? Definetely not to my liking.
Nevertheless,Merry Christmas,Lurcher

Very probably. I would be quite silly to do so, unless I collected "novelties" and quaint constructions. The poster will be well advised to browse through the older KR-1 threads in this forum. They are very instructive.

I will get it as soon as possible. It is already paid for (today) and only the arms licence from the police is required before I pick it up! Will be interesting to compare it to the R93. I am not aware of any misfire accidents with the KR1, however this one is from this year with the R93:

And people still buy R93 so?

Optics I am not yet sure of...

Mal sehen da kein Distributor in DE....

Ach ja da der TS den Nick RxHelix gewählt hat... Hatte diese Krücke mal wieder in den Fingern...................Reiht sich in die o.g. ein. Murks!
Ich würde meine R93 und die R8 nicht tauschen wohlen.
